At the Microsoft Management Summit (#MMS2013) IT professionals from around the world meet to increase their technical expertise. It's an intensive week of technical training, learning, and networking.
With more than 5,000+ attendees and 50+ vendor solution providers there is a lot of discussion on how cloud optimizes business.
Several prevalent major trends:
1. Consumerization of IT. Demands from users such as social and BYOD (bring your own device).
2. Cloud Optimizes Business: Cloud Computing Migration and ROI.
3. Data Explosion. The amount of data is doubling all the time.
While cloud based solutions means less fixed investment and potentially less training the primary driver is the ability to transform IT into a service. The compelling business reason is that internal employees are more focused on business processes
While no major product announcements were released from Microsoft the focus was on achieving progress in the cloud. In the opening keynote Brad Anderson highlighted several case studies and spoke about Datacenters without boundaries, Virtualization scalability and capabilities, and how the world has an insatiable appetite for storage.
